1. Data We Collect

• Account Information: When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture URL as provided by Google. We use this to create and manage your Unfold account.
• User-Generated Content: Any content you explicitly save to Unfold, including notes, articles, links, snippets, collections, and AI-generated drafts. This data is the core of your "second brain" and is stored securely in your private account.
• Chrome Extension Data: When you use the Unfold Chrome Extension, it has limited access to your browser to perform its function. Specifically:
  • `activeTab`: To capture the title, URL, and content of the page you are currently on when you choose to save it.
  • `storage`: To cache your user information locally on your device for a faster experience.
  • `scripting`: To extract selected text from the active tab.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide and improve the Unfold service:

• To authenticate your account and securely associate your content with your profile.
• To store, organize, and retrieve the content you save.
• To power AI features, such as generating tags or creating drafts from your selected items.
• To analyze and improve the functionality and user experience of our application.

We have a strict policy against using your personal content for training AI models. Your ideas are yours alone.

3. Third-Party Services

Unfold relies on trusted third-party services to function:

• Firebase (by Google): We use Firebase for user authentication (Google Sign-In) and as our backend database (Firestore) to securely store your account information and content.
• Google Gemini: All AI-powered features in Unfold are processed by Google's Gemini models via the Genkit framework. When you use an AI feature, the relevant content (e.g., the items you select) is sent to the Gemini API for processing. Google's API data usage policies apply, which prohibit the use of API data for model training.

4. Data Security

We take the security of your data seriously. Your data is stored in Firebase's secure environment, which employs industry-standard security measures. Access to your data is strictly limited to you through secure authentication. While no service is completely impenetrable, we are committed to protecting your information to the best of our ability.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information or content with third parties for marketing purposes. The only exception is if required by law, such as in response to a court order or other legal process.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have control over your data:

• Access and Deletion: You can access, edit, and delete your content (notes, collections, drafts) at any time through the application dashboard.
